Revisiting Kubrick’s film Full Metal Jacket, the piece explores the physical and mental training of commandos. Five men on stage perform military exercises incessantly. Homo Furens investigates the way we look at movement whether it aims at choreographic or combat purposes. As exhaustion and repetition grow, their moves will lead the audience towards a sense of peace. The artistic work of Filipe Lourenço began in 1988 with Arab-Andalousian music, namely the El Albaycin orchestra, with which he worked for 12 years. In 1997, he attended the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine d’Angers (CNDC), before signing his first contract, in 1999, with Olivier Bodin. Since then, he has collaborated with many different choreographers, such as Patrick le Doaré, Catherine Diverrès (first as a replacement in San, then as a performer in the pieces Cantieri, Solides, Echo and Blowin), Georges Appaix, Joëlle Bouvier, Michèle Noiret, Nasser Martin-Gousset, with whom he has worked regularly since 2006 (Péplum, Comedy, I want you and Pacifique), Christian Rizzo and Boris Charmatz. In 2008 he created the Plant Collective along with performers Laurie Young and Giota Kallimani.
